This is the solemn responsibility — and duty, of all of us, as citizens — to defend the provisions and protections handed down to us by the founders — as explicitly set forth in our Constitution. This is what patriotic, peaceful opposition looks like.

The Foreign Emoluments Clause (Article I, Section 9, Clause 8) is a constitutional ban (as the gentleman from Virginia correctly noted, in 1788) against ever accepting the office of President (without an explicit consent of the Congress — for each act), if one is receiving anything of value from any foreign power.

So it begins. . . .
